Batman: Arkham Origins is an action-adventure video game developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal and released in 2013. It's a prequel to the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City games, set early in Batman's career.

The story is set on Christmas Eve, with Batman in his early days of crime-fighting in Gotham City. He is still earning the trust of the police and dealing with Gotham's criminal underworld. The main plot revolves around a contract placed on Batman’s head by the Black Mask, a notorious crime lord. To claim the bounty, Black Mask hires eight of the most dangerous assassins from around the world to take down Batman. As the night unfolds, Batman encounters these assassins, including Deathstroke, Bane, and the enigmatic Lady Shiva. Each assassin presents unique challenges, pushing Batman to the limits of his skills and gadgets.

Simultaneously, Batman uncovers a larger conspiracy involving the corrupt Gotham City Police Department and a mysterious figure known as the Joker, who has his own plans for the city. The Joker, who initially appears as a minor character, gradually reveals himself as a major antagonist, leading to a dramatic and personal confrontation with Batman.

Throughout the game, Batman’s journey is marked by themes of growth and establishing his role as a protector of Gotham. He evolves from a brash and inexperienced vigilante into the more refined and disciplined Dark Knight known in the later games of the series. The game features a rich storyline, diverse combat mechanics, and an expansive open world, allowing players to experience the early days of Batman’s crusade against crime in Gotham.
