Blair Pischak, the man kidnapped at knifepoint by Jason Roy in 1996. Pischak was terrified, thinking he was going to die. Sixteen-year-old Jason Roy, who already had a criminal record, later pled guilty to charges related to that kidnapping. Nevertheless, four years later the RCMP chose to believe Jason Roy’s word over that of two police officer with exemplary records. Roy became the RCMP’s key witness – indeed their only witness – in a case that would NOT lead to charges, since there was no evidence that the officers had Neil Stonechild in their custody, as Jason Roy claimed. Instead, a public inquiry was held – an out-of-court proceeding with no rules of evidence. The findings of this free-for-all completely derailed the lives of Constables Larry Hartwig and Brad Senger.

Larry Hartwig, the Constable who, following the public inquiry, was fired from the Saskatoon Police Service after more than 15 years of service, while maintaining a spotless record.

Dave Scott, the Saskatoon Police Chief whose contract was terminated in 2001 as increasingly bizarre allegations against his officers escalated. He continues fighting to prove Hartwig and Senger innocent.

Stan Goertzen, President of the Saskatoon City Police Association, who until this day, years after retirement, has continued to fight for former Constables Hartwig and Senger’s exoneration.
