The premiere performance of On Warsash Shore by Philip Sparke, performed by Warsash Band on Saturday 18th October 2025.
This piece is dedicated to Jon Audain, Director of Music for Warsash Band from 2014 until his untimely passing in September 2024. The band wanted to honour Jon's remarkable dedication to music, education and the community with a tribute worthy of his impact and the most fitting way to do so was through music itself.
When Jon heard of the commission whilst in hospital, he was overjoyed and humbled that a composer of such distinction would write for him. His request was for the piece to be a "bright work that reflects the sea and water that is central to what Warsash is" - a vision that has been beautifully captured in this music. 'On Warsash Shore' takes its name from a local setting where Jon and the band have often performed, uniting the community through many memorable occasions.
