Eric and I recently hooked up and I became his apprentice in canyoneering. One of his favorites is Boynton Island. I asked about climbing Boynton Island as a hike (out and back) and he said if you are going to do Boynton Island then I'm coming and we are going to do the east canyoneering route. I can't think of anything recent that I have done that was as fun as this route. It has it all! Great 4th class scrambling, challenging climbing moves, and exposed drop offs just to get the nerves going a little bit. Once on the summit the route just keeps getting better and better. I'm addicted to rappelling now. So, you might see a lot more canyoneering on this channel with the help of Eric. Canyoneering is a great activity for the hot Arizona summers as most routes can be completed in half a day and being in tight spaces is a great way to avoid the sun. So instead of waiting on summers heat to pass indulging in some canyoneering will be the new move.
