Описание: Join me on an adventurous journey beyond the stunning Batad rice terraces, where I braved a steep and slippery trail to reach the mesmerizing Tappiya Waterfall. This serene spot is home to the intriguing fingerprint ant, scientifically known as Diacamma ceylonense. These highly active Asian ants require a significant amount of protein for their brood, paralyzing and killing insects with their effective stinger. Despite their queenless reputation, all newborn ants are ergatoid queens, becoming workers through the amputation of their gemmae. My time at the falls was limited, but I managed to capture a few shots of these incredible creatures before the challenging climb back up the mountain. Nature's wonders never cease to amaze!
