Part of the Gordon McCann Ozarks Folk Music Collection at Missouri State University's Special Collections and Archives.
This recording includes tape 2 sides A and B. This tape is tape 2 of 3 tapes that were recorded February 26, 1977 at the Northeast Oklahoma Fiddler's Convention, Northeast Oklahoma State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Gordon McCann mentions in his notes that he, Art Galbraith, Raymond Campbell, Lonnie and Thelma Robertson all decided to go to Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Gordon says this was the first of many trips to Tahlequah. Gordon says that they stayed in the college dorms since it was between semesters. Gordon also says there were usually 75-100 musicians, mostly fiddlers in attendance. Gordon says there was a mix of styles from all over the Ozarks, Southwest Missouri, Northwest Arkansas, Eastern Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana.
Gordon says all the music took place in the Student Union at NOSU. Gordon says there were continuous performances in a room with a stage, and then jamming in every available room elsewhere in the building, even in the stairways and restrooms.
Gordon does not seem sure about the context in which this tape begins. He lists it as "jamming in the student union?" He does not list who the artist(s) playing is/are.
