Scene rendered in Maya/Mental Ray.
This lenticular uses a 40LPI wide angle lens from http://www.vuethru.com/
I wanted to create a photorealistic lenticular image showing lots of reflections and refractions, so this fruitbowl scene was perfect. I like the idea of the refraction of the lenticular lens reproducing the refraction caused by a 3D object.
I also wanted to try using a wide angle lens for 3D -The usual advice it that wide angle is not suitable for 3D work but in fact, if you have enough print resolution it can be better than a narrow angle lens for certain types of image. The image is more comfortable to view and allows a much wider range of head movement before the image 'flips'
