2026-01-01 - Fireworks from Rose Hill, Mauritius!

This is something that's rather unique to our island and something I don't want to see disappear!
.
Some haters - Ironically Foreigners - were jubilating earlier today when it rained, stating we wouldn't be able to launch fireworks... well, the sky cleared and there was not a single cloud in sight! Except the cloud generated by the fireworks... which is blown over the sea within just a few hours...
.
I have seen many foreigners complaining... I'm of the opinion that when you go to a country, you adapt to the culture of the country, you don't try to change it... sadly some even made up some false claims to try to get rid of this... aided by some local similarly minded snowflakes...
.
In any case - this yearly 15-20 display must stay and even though I do not celebrate the new year now (as I go by the biblical new year in April) I will still fight for our right to give such beautiful memories to the children of this land! I know I have some pretty great ones with fireworks when I was a kid...
.
It would be a shame to deprive tomorrow's children of this experience... there are too many "you know when i was young we used to be able to... " ... there's no way a kid can imagine this if he hasn't lived it.
