PROS and CONS to Adding Coilovers to Your Car!

Описание: 👋 In todays video, lets talk about a very common suspension upgrade for a sportscar! That is adding a full coilover suspension kit! This is something that we have done on previous vehicles and have even done on a pickup truck! So coilovers are not limited to just sportscars or cars in general, but to any vehicle out on the road!
A coilover is a spring/coil that is over a shock absorber! Hence why it's called, coil-over!
Coilovers were first introduced and originated for track driving! That way the suspension could be fine tuned and quickly adjusted while at the track.
The main benefits for adding a coilover suspension is to improve handling and to lower the ride height! By lowering the car, that will lower the center of gravity, meaning that handling will be improved!
You can also make several adjustments depending on the kit you purchase. From damping to the spring preload and even sometimes camber with the right parts!
A coilover has the shock absorber that is pressurized with a rod, piston, oil and gas within. The piston has little holes/valves that allow oil to slowly pass when there's any sort of motion.
There's also two different types, mono tube and twin tube! The coilovers that I have mentioned for all our vehicles have been mono tube! They are more popular, easier to install, less expensive and more durable!

Pros to adding a new coilover suspension are, giving you the asthetic look (lowering the vehicle), adjusting the suspension to help better handle tight and curvy roads! It will also improve the steering response!
Cons to adding a new coilover suspension are, it can feel like a go kart, a very harsh and stiff ride, a lot of work to install, and honestly not really anything else is on the con list!

Overall, if you plan to do any type of performance driving, a coilover suspension kit that is adjustable is the key to greatly improving the ride quality and performance in your car and something that you should do first to really experience what the car can do!
