Описание: Our analysts and historians count down the seven most critical decisions that ultimately lead to the Northern victory. Offering different content and perspectives from the afternoon sessions, the evening program looked at the entire battle.

July 2013 marks the 150 years since the Battle of Gettysburg, and the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas honors the event with a full day of programming.
This conference style event will explores each historic day of the Gettysburg battle through panel discussions incorporating military strategy, politics and life as a soldier.

"This battle was a crucial moment in the Civil War that really set our nation on course for today. In order to create interaction and get a real dialogue going among our experts, we'll be utilizing the same discussion format as our Post-Election Conference," said Dole Institute Director Bill Lacy. "The quality of the conversation will be excellent."

The expert panelists include:
Dr. Steve Lauer, US Army School of Advanced Military Studies
Dr. Ethan Rafuse, Command & General Staff College
Dr. Terry Beckenbaugh, Command & General Staff College
Dr. Jennifer Weber, University of Kansas
Dr. Debra Sheffer, Park University
Dr. Kevin Benson, US Army University of Foreign Military & Cultural Studies

Gettysburg remains the most significant battle fought on American soil. More men fought and died during the Battle of Gettysburg than in any other battle before or since 1863. Today Gettysburg sees more than 1 million visitors each year, and efforts are still being made by the National Park Service and the Gettysburg Foundation to preserve the monuments, memorials and grounds of this historic site.

Filmed on June 20, 2013 at the Dole Institute of Politics.
