Super Quick Bavarian Cabbage with fried Sausages and Apples

Dinner in 15 min
For this super quick cabbage recipe with fried sausages, you will need:
500 g white cabbage, finely shredded into long thin strips
200 g raw grilling sausages
100 g onion, sliced into long thin strips
15 g wholegrain mustard
2 tart apples, cut into large wedges
Preparation
Heat a frying pan and add vegetable oil.
I use sunflower oil. Add the sausages and fry until golden on all sides.
Once the sausages are browned on one side, add the apples to the pan and lightly sauté them as well.
This step takes no more than 3 minutes.
The apples should stay lightly cooked, not deeply browned.
Add the mustard, mix well, and simmer over low heat for another couple of minutes.

In a separate pan, add a little oil and sauté the onion,
then add the coarsely chopped garlic.
Do not over-fry — the vegetables should only soften slightly.
Add all the cabbage and cook it down in batches, stirring constantly so it doesn’t burn.
Once the cabbage has reduced in volume, season it.
I use only salt and black pepper, because the sausages already have plenty of flavor and don’t need to be overpowered.

Add the sausages and apples on top of the cabbage,
cover with a lid, and let everything simmer together for no more than 5 minutes.
Before serving, I add half a teaspoon of nutmeg and bring it straight to the table.
This dish is served hot.
Cold sausages simply don’t belong here.
