Defendant apologizes after sentencing in deadly Las Vegas hit and run

Описание: A young man who pleaded guilty for his role in a hit-and-run that killed a retired police chief more than two years ago claims he was on a drug at the time of the incident while speaking with News 3 from jail.

Jzamir Keys,18, sat down with News 3’s Cristen Drummond inside the Clark County Detention Center. He addressed for the first time the video that made international headlines showing him and his co-defendant Jesus Ayala, 20, intentionally hitting Andreas “Andy” Probst with a car on August 14, 2023. The 64-year-old was riding a bicycle when the car rammed into him, causing Probst to hurtle backward across the hood and windshield of the car as the then16 and 17-year-old drove off and laugh.

"I would like to apologize and basically, I would like to say I was not, I was not my full self that day,” Keys said. “I was being a follower. Doing things I don't usually do."

Cristen asked, “Why did you think this was funny?” Keys replied. "I mean to be honest with you, I was on acid, I don't remember nothing from that day. Well, I remember some of it, but most of it, I don't."
