If you are like me, you hate throwing out the lovely Christmas cards that you get sent to you every year. Here is a way to use them and enjoy them again!
Recycled Christmas card craft playlist:
• Recycled Christmas Card Crafts
(one of them will be posted later this month! Stay tuned)
The original template that I used is no longer available on the website that I talk about in the video. Here is a similar one that should work just fine :
https://www.allfreecrafts.com/christm...
Materials needed:
2 Template pieces
14 Christmas cards (2 of them large enough to fit large template pieces)
Glue
Scissors
Yarn (colour matching the card colour scheme)
Thread (matching yarn)
Needle for sewing that will fit yarn size.
Sharp skewer, needle or awl to poke holes in card.
pencil/pen for tracing
ruler for measuring where to punch holes in cards (optional)
Instructions:
Cut out 12 of the smaller pieces and 2 of the larger pieces.
Glue two of the smaller pieces back to back to make six double sided basket side pieces.
Glue the two larger pieces back to back to make one bottom for the basket.
Poke holes in the edges of all the pieces. I made them about a quarter of an inch from the edge of the card and one quarter of an inch apart. You can use a ruler and a marker to make small dots to follow as a guide instead of eye-balling it like I did.
Sew the edges of the pieces using the coordinating yarn using a blanket stitch (demonstration of blanket stitch in video and photo on website).
Line up your stitched side pieces in a circle around the larger bottom piece, putting flat side with flat side. It will look like a flower with the side pieces looking like petals. Sew the flat sides together with the matching thread.
Bend the "petals" upwards and sew them together at the edges.
Reinforce the spot where the rounded side panels come together if desired and sew up any large gaps.

If you subscribe any new video I make will show up in your subscription box, delivered to you like a new magazine to your door (except free). You can even go to your subscriptions section of your channel and click on "manage subscriptions" and select "email with new uploads" on my channel. This way you will get an email telling you I have a new video up if you don't go to YouTube often.
I LOVE comments and I read each and every one of them.
I try very hard to answer questions when I can, but there is an excellent chance your question has been answered in the description box or in the comments, so please take a look.
My favourite channel here on YouTube is CookingAndCrafting. Beth lives in Hawaii and makes great meals, desserts and crafts. We met here on YouTube by commenting on each others videos and have since met each other several times in "real life". She is a lovely person and a great friend. Please check her out :)
