An informative video showing how the top ten largest American cities have progressed across the U.S. from the first census in 1790 to the twenty-third in 2010.
Note: Does not include metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs), so relatively small cities with large metro areas (e.g. Miami or Atlanta) do not show up here. A standard definition for MSAs wasn’t developed by the US Census Bureau until the 1950 census.
