"Through the construction of the Barakah nuclear power plant, we were able to develop relations that are now genuinely like brothers. I just visited the Barakah nuclear power plant site along with President Mohammed and saw (for myself) the monumental accomplishment that we achieved together. The No. 1 and No. 2 units of the Barakah plant have successfully started operations and the No. 3 and No. 4 units will be completed this year and next year, respectively, and will contribute to (expand) UAE's (United Arab Emirates) eco-friendly power supply. The cooperation over nuclear power plants marked the beginning of broader economic cooperation that now includes areas such as defence, public health, medical services, agriculture and culture.”

STORYLINE:
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol attended the UAE-South Korean Business Forum in Abu Dhabi on Monday as part of an official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
At the Forum, Yoon delivered a speech that focused on the nuclear cooperation between the UAE and South Korea.
"Through the construction of the Barakah nuclear power plant, we were able to develop relations that are now genuinely like brothers," Yoon said.
"The cooperation over nuclear power plants marked the beginning of broader economic cooperation that now includes areas such as defence, public health, medical services, agriculture and culture,” he added.
The $20 billion Barakah nuclear power plant, Seoul’s first attempt to build atomic reactors abroad, will one day account for nearly a quarter of all of the Emirates’ power needs.
Already, Yoon's four-day trip the UAE has seen a promise from Sheikh Mohammed to invest some $30 billion in the country.
Heavyweight business leaders from Hyundai, Samsung and other companies also are taking part in the state visit.
Earlier in the day at the Sustainable Week Summit in Abu Dhabi, Yoon said that his nation's efforts to be carbon neutral by 2050 would rely in part on returning to nuclear power, despite his predecessor having tried to move away from atomic power.
