What is a cheese curd? Simply put, a cheese curd is a moist piece of curdled milk. There are two different types of cheese curds. There are what I call regular cheese curds and deep fried cheese curds. Personally the deep fried curds are my favorite. They are also oftne referred to as squeaky cheese, because the cheese actually squeaks between your teeth. Thats also how you can tell how fresh the cheese curd is. Culvers makes very good cheese curds as well.
Cheese curds are also a main ingredient in poutine. If you dont know what poutine is, its a popular dish from Canada that has cheese curds, fries, and gravy.
Cheese curds are a HUGE part of wisconsin culture, and probably one of the most iconic wisconsin foods.
