Today we’re jumping into Magic: The Gathering Arena gameplay with one of my all-time favorite decks — Golgari Elves in the Historic format!

This deck is built to generate massive amounts of mana using powerful Elf synergies like Priest of Titania and Elvish Archdruid, then convert that mana into explosive wins. With payoff cards such as Craterhoof Behemoth, Allosaurus Shepherd, and Tyvar, the Pummeler, Golgari Elves can end games in a single turn.

Priest of Titania and Elvish Archdruid produce green mana for each Elf you control, letting you cast Craterhoof Behemoth, which gives your entire board +X/+X and trample, where X is the number of creatures you control. Another major win condition is Allosaurus Shepherd, which can turn all your Elves into 5/5 Dinosaurs, overwhelming opponents instantly.

The deck also features key utility Elves like Wirewood Symbiote, which untaps your mana dorks by returning an Elf to your hand. This enables powerful loops with Elvish Visionary for card draw and Dwynen’s Elite for extra Elf tokens. Leaf-Crowned Visionary provides an anthem effect and allows you to spend extra green mana to draw cards whenever you cast an Elf spell, perfectly complementing the deck’s mana engine.

To round out the list, we run Agatha’s Soul Cauldron for flexible activated ability synergies and Grist, the Hunger Tide for removal, token generation, and grindy matchups.

This is one of my favorite Historic decks in MTG Arena and easily one of the most fun decks to pilot if you enjoy combo turns, creature synergies, and explosive finishes.
