Dr. Aicha Hind Rifai's talk on the importance of Philosophy in guiding psychiatric clinical practice.
A towering figure of 20th century German Psychiatry and Philosophy, Karl Jaspers introduced the patients' subjective experience of their psychiatric illness into the realm of diagnosis and therapy and influenced the direction of continental philosophy, psychotherapy and psychiatry. The last three decades have witnessed a renewed interest in Japers' work in American circles and a call to return to his work to enrich the American Psychiatric perspective.
Minor correction on minute 43:38:: "...things we use reason for and things that we intuit - without the means of reasoning - and that includes time, space, arithmetic.."
Dr. Rifai meant to say "mathematics" and not arithmetic.
