In November 2022 I visited Asham Wood in the Mendips to explore two disused quarries that were closed in the mid-1980s (Asham Quarry and Westdown Quarry) as well as some of the ancient semi-natural woodland and currently operational Torr Works quarry, which is one of Britain's largest quarries.
