ake a look around the Tigor facelift and you’ll see several new features, like the square chrome elements inside the headlights, the clear-lens tail-lights and a shark-fin antenna. There’s also a new Egyptian Blue paint option on offer. Chrome highlights are also visible on the door handles, the front bumper, the grille and the fog lamp housings.

The big news is the addition of a new top-spec XZ+ trim, equipped with a 7.0-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto compatibility) that doubles as a display for the reverse camera.

Additional features on the Tigor XZ+ include faux-leather upholstery, driver's side seat-height adjust, power-folding wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators and a shark-fin antenna.

There are no mechanical changes to the facelift and the Tigor continues to sport the same 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel motor as before. Lower trims that are powered by the petrol motor get the option of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox, while the top-spec variant can only be had with the manual gearbox. The diesel only gets a 5-speed manual transmission.

The refreshed Tigor will square off against the Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Volkswagen Ameo.


Maruti Dzire ZXI+-
The Maruti Dzire 2018 is the best selling car in the country. The compact sedan selles more than any hatchback and has also beaten the Maruti Alto. In April, the Dzire sold 25,935 units, which is higher than 21,233 of the Maruti Alto. The Dzire still has a waiting period, though the production has gone up. Such is the demand for the car that the company is finding it hard to meet. The Dzire has always been the highest selling compact sedan. Despite competition from other manufacturers, this has been the favourite. The Honda Amaze will be launched soon and provide good competition to the Dzire. However it is to be seen if it can come close to its sales numbers.

The new Dzire is now much more premium than the earlier model. It is a much improved car as of now. It is now wider than before due to the new platform. This has also resulted in superior handing, ride and also space management. There are multiple variant option to choose from as well, making the Dzire 2018 as complete car. This is a reason why it has been selling in very high numbers.

The Heartect platform is a new platform and this underpins the Dzire. The same platform is found on the Baleno also. It gets a longer wheelbase by about 20mm. The width has also increased. Teh design is now more matured than the earlier model. The new Dzire now look well-balanced and also more proportionate than before. The styling is a head turner and commands good road presence. For the first time it gets 15-inch wheels as well.

The engines on offer are the same. They are the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel. Both these engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission and also have AMT options. Both engines have good performance and are fuel efficient. As the new DZire is now lighter by upto 120 kilograms, it makes it an even better package than before. This means an improvement in performance and even mileage.
