Easy Elsie is a British bomber of the type Avro Lancaster Mark I , which after being damaged by anti-aircraft fire over northern Norway on October 29, 1944 flew to Sweden and made an emergency landing on a bog near Porjus in Lapland. The aircraft wreckage remains at the landing site.
The aircraft with factory number NF-920 was manufactured by the Austin Motor Company in Longbridge , Birmingham in the Midlands in the United Kingdom and left the factory on 12 August 1944 for delivery to the Royal Air Forces Bomber Command for placement at No. 617 Squadron at Lossiemouth in Moray County , Scotland. There it was named KC-E and was named by its crew Easy Elsie .
