An illustrated interview with Andrea Van Beusichem, Visitor Services Manager at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge at the north end of Cayuga Lake in New York's Finger Lakes region. Montezuma is a 10,000 acre wildlife refuge vital for the welfare and survival of hundreds of thousands of ducks, geese, shorebirds, wading birds and other wildlife species.in a series of managed wetlands and other habitat types. It is part of the greater Montezuma Wetlands Complex that involves state and non-profit conservation organization partners.
A high point is the story of the successful program to restore the bald eagle, formerly endangered, which began at Montezuma in the 1970s.
