Описание: Digital arrest scams are emerging as one of India’s most dangerous cybercrime threats, with senior citizens increasingly targeted through fake law-enforcement calls, intimidation and psychological isolation. From Rishikesh and Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Srinagar, fraudsters impersonating police, CBI or ED officials are forcing victims into prolonged phone and video calls, coercing them to transfer life savings into so-called “safe accounts.” With over 90,000 cases reported in a year and losses running into thousands of crores, the Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognisance, directing a pan-India CBI probe and signalling nationwide guidelines. Authorities stress that no arrest is ever conducted over phone or video, warning that awareness remains the strongest defence against this growing digital crime epidemic.
