Strutmasters founder Chip Lofton was the first to offer a fully assembled conversion kit when the air suspension failed on his personal Lincoln in 1999. These electronically-controlled factory suspension systems are very complicated and expensive! A common failure happens when rubber in the system cracks and leaks air -- causing the onboard compressor to eventually fail. This results in an immediate loss of ride height and renders many vehicles undriveable. Older, high-mileage vehicles will generally require multiple component repairs to keep the system working. Some customers have spent upwards of five to eight thousand dollars or more (parts and labor) chasing a failing factory system.
