Inspiration can come from the strangest of places. From my experience, I find that I run into something inspiring whenever I'm not actively looking for it.
As an example, last week I found inspiration while noticing my neighbor's lawn. Now, I know you must be wondering how could I possibly find inspiration in a simple patch of grass. I mean, it's just grass, right? It's so common that it's nearly everywhere. And I understand, just as well as you do, that there aren't too many things that people find exciting about grass.
However, in this case, I believe you will see my point because my neighbor's lawn isn't your average patch of greenery. I would argue that it's the lawn from hell.
My next door neighbors moved about a month ago and since then they're front and back yards have been left unattended (no one has moved into their house since they left). It is amazing to see how fast nature will take over once there are no people around to interfere with her but that's another story for another day.
Instead of sticking with the initial reaction of just being plain annoyed I decided to turn the situation around and see how I could use it to my advantage.
Once my imagination kicked into gear, I no longer saw an out of control horror-show of a lawn but a strange alien world with vegetation that no human has ever seen.
I decided I would bring out my Canon T3i DSLR, my 60mm macro lens and take pictures of whatever madness was growing beside me and use those images as the alien environment that I would create using DAZ Studio.
This video documents how I did this. I create something called a primitive and then use a .jpg as its texture. It's a simple process but as with most things in DAZ studio, it may not be apparent to a new user. Luckily this video will help you out.
