Описание: Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has announced a strict one-year ban, starting July 30, 2026, on the use of fake or non-dairy “analogue” paneer in hotels and restaurants across the state. This ban includes making, storing, transporting, selling, or using such products.

The decision was taken to protect public health and prevent people from being misled. Tests by the FDA found that nearly 40% of these paneer and cheese samples did not meet safety standards and even contained harmful substances.

Analogue paneer is basically a fake version of real paneer. It is made using vegetable oils like palm oil, starch, and low-cost proteins instead of milk. Although it looks and cooks like real paneer, it does not provide the same nutrition. Because it is often sold as real paneer, food authorities in states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat have taken strict action against it.
