Описание: For all you Victorian era self-defense, sick fighting, martial arts, and fighting fitness fans. Once again, it's time for us to take a leap back 124 years and take another step along our fighting fitness journey, of re visiting and bringing back to life Edward William Barton-Wrights New Art of Self Defence, the first mixed martial art of the modern age, that was Bartitsu. Also, to experience as best we can what it was like to train at the Bartitsu School of Arms and Physical Culture as a beginner learning all the martial arts. self defence fighting systems and physical fitness training and strength and conditioning training of the late victorian era taught at the Bartitsu Club.
In this video, we continue learning the basic strikes of La Canne, the French stick fighting martial art that makes up the majority of Bartitsu's weapons training in its self-defense system. While Pierre Vigny taught La Canne and Savate at the Bartitsu Club, we will be using Joseph Charlemonts manuals before moving on to look at the difference in their La Canne styles.
This video, La Canne exercise 3, is my attempt at learning the basic striking techniques using a cane as a weapon. We look at how to perform the vertical strike or head cut, advancing and retreating and putting the head cut together with the face cuts we learned in exercise 2. We also look at performing these strikes, both single and double handed. The double handed strikes are adapted from Le Batton also taught at the Bartitsu Club. the double handed strikes have been included as they would help bridge the ranges from long to close quarter battle range or in limited space and still be able to use the cane as an effective striking weapon before only being able to use tips of the cane as a stabbing weapon at grappling range.
The Bartitsu Project also has another objective that is looking at learning the various fighting systems as a vehicle for physical fitness training workouts and to see what functional fitness and strength and conditioning benefits we derive from this experiment.
