In this episode of The EcoTourism Field Guide Chronicles, we take you inside the Higher Certificate: Ecotourism Field Guide course (NQF Level 5) and show what it’s really like to live and learn in the African bush.
The day begins with a sunrise safari and a student-led talk at the waterhole, where elephants and hippos make their appearance. We delve into practical bush activities, such as tracking, interpreting signs, and viewing big game on foot in the Makuleke area. We also join a three-night wilderness trail for the ultimate immersive experience.
Along the way, students open up about their favourite moments, the challenges they’ve faced, and the valuable lessons they’ve learned on their journey to becoming field guides.
