Описание: Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have sharply escalated following an exchange of cross-border strikes along the disputed Durand Line. Islamabad says it launched “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq” after what it described as unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban on multiple border posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram and Bajaur sectors.

According to Pakistani officials, at least 133 Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed and more than 200 injured since the operation began. Islamabad also claims 27 Taliban posts were destroyed and nine captured. Afghanistan, however, says up to 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed, two headquarters and 19 check posts were captured, and several soldiers taken prisoner. Pakistan has rejected these claims, confirming two soldiers killed and three wounded.

The operation, whose Arabic name translates to “Righteous Fury,” involves airstrikes and ground offensives targeting installations in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have vowed no compromise on territorial integrity. Kabul, through spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, says the escalation followed recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory.
