Part 2. Demolition of the Old Mill in Centreville, Maryland. The timber-frame mill was built in 1899, replacing an earlier one that had burned down. It had many uses over the next century, including housing a dealer for Deutz Tractors. In recent decades it had fallen into disuse.
Foundation problems led to timbers cracking in the basement. Extensive rot affected other parts of the building. It was eventually condemned by the city. The poor condition of the structure and its proximity to a major road required the top floor to be demolished by hand.
