FRIDAY'S SIMILAR TO THURSDAY
There were pockets of light rain Thursday across the South Valley and some mountain areas, especially along foothill slopes. Amounts were on the very light side. CSUB and Mettler came in with a whopping 0.01". Meadows Field only received a trace of rainfall. The winds have died down, but remnants of a low cloud deck will hold for the first half of the day. Skies should clear by the afternoon. Due to the cloud deck and the cooler air that dropped in from the passing front, temperatures will remain at or below seasonal highs; upper 60s to low 70s. The Kern County mountain areas will start in the 40s and end in the 60s. Enjoy the seasonal weather now, because as skies clear temperatures will warm for the weekend.
#WEEKENDWARMUP
High pressure builds from the Pacific and will migrate over south-central California this weekend. The result will be a warmup, with afternoon highs sailing back into the 80s across many spots in Kern County. Southern California valleys are expected to be even hotter, with 90s popping up over the weekend and into early next week!
CHANGES NEXT WEEK
A developing trough is still in the forecast to unfold across the Pacific to our west. The question is when will this trough, and attendant storm systems, swing eastward into California. The model data is indicating sometime between mid and late next week. As that occurs, the weather could start getting more active, with the storm door opening up and rain, wind and mountain snow returning to our area.
