Описание: If there is a song that exemplifies the beauty of the so-called "Wiener Lied" (being a genre of its own) some will suggest this one to be the one to lookout for. Written by Peter Herz and Hermann Leopoldi, it tells the story of a "little cafe in (a district called) Hernals" - beautifully and skilfully translated into English and re-recorded by both Helly Möslein and Hermann Leopoldi himself in 1946. Released by the "Master Record Company" (the record label of United Broadcasting Company), the album also contains Arthur Berger's wonderful translation of "I bin a stiller Zecher" ("I'm just a quiet drinker") and lesser known gems such as "Die Novaks aus Prag" and "Ja, da wär's halt gut wenn man Englisch könnt'" - all of which can be found on

After having been fortunate enough to have accompanied (German-born but Viennese -Actor par excellence) Michael Heltau for more than 25 years, it was both time to pay tribute to his rendition of this tune and, of course, to the song itself.
