Serial Experiments Lain is a multimedia project released in Japan in 1998. Most people know about the TV anime series, some people know about the PS1 video game, and even fewer know what any of it means, so let's take a deep dive into the franchise and try to connect these various elements.

Along the way, we'll talk about some other experimental PS1 games, a couple of bad anime series, a really bad live action Japanese TV show, and I'll tell you about some books I've read. I promise it will all make sense by the end.
