Inside Gaza, the ceasefire appears anything but stable as Hamas continues daily skirmishes and expands its tunnel network, while Israel prepares for the possibility of renewed military action. Prime Minister Netanyahu voices deep skepticism about Iran negotiations during talks with President Trump, as U.S. military forces increase their presence in the region. Meanwhile, U.S. lawmakers mobilize against the spread of Sharia law — and in Jerusalem, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian students defy division through music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
Escorted by the IDF just 200 yards from Gaza’s “yellow line,” Paul Petitte reports that Hamas fighters continue testing Israeli troops despite a declared ceasefire. Israeli officials say disarmament has stalled completely, and more than half of Hamas’ vast tunnel infrastructure remains undiscovered. Military leaders warn that without force, Hamas is unlikely to surrender its weapons — raising concerns that another October 7-style attack could emerge if conditions remain unchanged.
In Washington, President Trump met privately with Prime Minister Netanyahu, insisting negotiations with Iran continue — but signaling that a credible military option remains on the table. The Pentagon has ordered a second aircraft carrier to prepare for deployment, adding to U.S. fighter jets and missile defense systems already positioned in the Middle East. Israel remains adamant that any agreement must address not only Iran’s nuclear ambitions but also its ballistic missile arsenal and proxy networks.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged sorrow over the regime’s crackdown on protesters, though critics dismiss the statement as a strategic maneuver amid negotiations. Reports indicate tens of thousands have died in Iran’s unrest, as the regime attempts to contain internal dissent while engaging internationally.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel says diplomatic pressure could dismantle Hamas — but questions whether international actors have the will to apply real leverage. She warns that if diplomacy fails, Israel will be left with no choice but military intervention, challenging global leaders to act now rather than criticize Israel later.
On Capitol Hill, Representative Keith Self and fellow lawmakers launched the “Sharia-Free America Caucus,” arguing that the U.S. Constitution must be protected from what they describe as the spread of radical Islamic ideology. The caucus has grown rapidly, while critics claim it unfairly targets Muslim communities.
And in a striking contrast to regional tensions, the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance showcases students from Jewish, Muslim, and Christian backgrounds making music together. Through events like “A Day of Hope” and the “Symphony of Hope” gala, students say music transcends politics and builds lasting relationships across faith lines — offering a powerful picture of coexistence in a divided city.
