Описание:
Akai CD-55 with 2x AD1856N DAC.
Monolithic 16-bit PCM DAC chip, similar (if not the same) as Burr-Brown PCM56.
-The Good: AD1856N DAC,
-The Bad: Transport mechanism with a cheap laser (KSS-150A),
-The Ugly: All plastic and looking as big shoes box.
What I have done:
-Panasonic FC in power supply,
-Sanyo Os-con feeding some digital chips,
-Nichicon FG and FW in analogue stage
The sound: Clean, fast, dynamic, lots of details, deep, and kicking bass.
The mids are good, but does not have the luxury that TDA1541A can give.
Not a bad sounding stuff for 50 or 60 euros, but it needs more attention, for sure!
Equipment used: integrated amplifier Audion Sterling EL34 Class A with TG Audio Silver power cable and a pair of Dynaco A25 SE speakers completely in stock conditions, which I have for over than 10 years playing music all day and night.
For cables, I use DNM interconnects and speaker cables - low resistance and low inductance, therefore reduced colourations and very high dynamics in sound presentation.
Many thanks for watching!
