Gran Senda de Málaga Stage 5 Nerja to Frigiliana

Описание: After 4 stages along the (very flat) Málaga coastline, this stage was the complete opposite – consisting of 850m elevation gain heading north from the Nerja Caves via a Parque Natural full of Aleppo pine trees, to the whitewashed village of Frigiliana. It was ‘only’ 14 km, but with temperatures reaching about 25º, we both felt the burn!
Not only was there a lot of ‘up’, there were two sections where the hike descended considerably towards the río Chillar (which we had to cross) and the Río Higuerón (the section we got to was dry, with an acequia to the right, which drives the water into the Pozo de Batán .
The "Pozo Batán" is an immense pool of crystalline waters built in the 19th century next to a brown paper mill owned by the Condes de Fernán Núñez.
Despite the physical exertion, we thoroughly enjoyed being in this beautiful area, with views towards the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park.
Post-hike gluten-free pizza and beer at Nueva Tahona was well-deserved and it went down very nicely!
We then got a taxi to our car which was waiting patiently for us at the Nerja Caves.
