Arithmetic with rectangles | Elementary Mathematics (K-6) Explained 2 | NJ Wildberger

Описание: We start our study of arithmetic in a very primitive, naive fashion suitable for Kindergarten level students. A number for us is a row rectangle: a row of unit squares or cells. We show how to use such `numbers' for counting. Then the definitions of addition and multiplication are relatively simple. We are able to use our Kindergarten numbers to talk about the sizes of collections, and to compare two sizes.
