The singles championship was an all Torrey Pines affair as senior Kelsey Chen ‘15 vs. freshman Hannah Zhao ’18. Chen, who reached the finals last year established a 4-0 lead in the first set vs. her freshman teammate Hannah Zhao.
But Zhao was able to tie the first set at 4-4 and went onto win 7-6 before winning the match 7-6, 6-2. This is the first time both teammates have played each other in an official match, but they have practiced many hours together.
