“Lagankhel Thur” refers to the Southern Ashoka Stupa (also known as Lagan Thur or the Southern Mound), a significant historical and religious monument located near the Lagankhel Bus Park in Lalitpur. The stupa lies within Ward No. 5 of the Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City in the Lalitpur district of Nepal.
This stupa is one of the four ancient boundary stupas believed to have been established by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE during his visit to the Kathmandu Valley. These four stupas mark the original limits of the ancient city of Patan.
