To perform more advanced behavioural hearing tests like VROA, the baby or toddler requires good head control, which is why the test is normally only performed with children aged 7 months to 3 years of age.
VROA involves the child turning toward a sound when it is presented. When child looks in the direction a visual reward is presented (lights, tv activates etc).
Accurate hearing thresholds can be obtained using this procedure. Children at this age are able to respond to more frequency-specific sounds.
