Dubai Airports runway to close from May 1st

Описание: Starting from May 1st, Dubai International will close down runways as a part of massive airport upgrade.

This means there will be a 26% cut in the total number of flights operating from the airport during the 80-day period.

Emirates Airline estimates the closures will cost the airline one billion dirhams in lost revenue.

Seven airlines that are currently operating from Dubai International will move to the new Al Maktoum International Airport during that period.

I caught up with Dubai Airport's spokesperson and began by asking him to explain the need for these runway closures.
