Briefe An Rudi is a song with a story. Written in German, it tells of a girl who has a penfriend Rudi in Munich. The penfriend has a bookshop, and the girl dreams that one day, she would go to Munich and meet Rudi, whom she has never seen before. It imagines a time past when people write letters to each other, though they never met or saw one another.
The story is a fiction based on my own self getting a German penfriend, Rudolf Forster, who happens to be the same age as me (as mentioned in the song), and to whom this song is dedicated. But unlike the story, we write emails!
