Описание: IMPORTANT NOTE: I APOLOGISE BECAUSE THE PITCH OF THE AUDIO IS MUCH TOO HIGH ON THIS VIDEO. YOU CAN HEAR IT LOWER, AND MORE NEARLY CORRECT, AT http://www.normanfield.com/boyars.mp3. Thanks to PA2OLD for pointing out this error. In 1893, the Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen (1864 - 1935) wrote this piece "The Entry March of the Boyars". He had been offered (but had not taken up ) a post at the Bucharest Conservatory. Still, he became interested in that country and its history, and after research, composed this piece, which rapidly became poopular internationally, and still stongly features in the orchestral reprtoire today, as is manifest by the number of contemporary versions on YouTube. The "Boyars" were high noblemen, little below Royalty itsef - you can easily read about them on Wikipedia. Halvorsen's work as you hear it now, was recorded for Parlophon in Germany in May 1913, performed by an orchestra conducted by Friedrich Kark. He had already been been the conductor of many pioneering orchestral works, at a time when it was very difficult to record (under the acoustic, or mechanical system) anything that sounded like a proper orchestra as we know it today. The level of groove modulation on this disc (as illustrated) is sometimes extremely high, and represents, I think, a great attainment in the recording art.
