Between Two Dams, my Beaverton beaver cam caught one of my favorite regulars at this beaver dam in Beaverton, Ore. — a mink. This spot is basically mink heaven: tight channels, tons of cover, and a wetland buffet packed into a few muddy feet. It slips along the dam face, ducks under logs, pops up for half a second like it’s checking whether I’m watching… and then it’s gone.
I started calling this one Minkerton, because it acts like it owns the place. If the beavers built the infrastructure, Minkerton’s the little predator patrol cruising Between Two Dams on its own schedule — fast, fearless, and always up to something I probably don’t want to know about
