Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds perform in Blackface in Holiday Inn (1942). A full band of blackface musicians accompanies.
Louise Beavers plays Mamie, the house servant, singing to her children about emancipation. Beavers began her performing career as a minstrel show singer. Like Hattie McDaniel and most other Black actors of the 1930s and 40s, Louise Beavers was limited to character roles, most often playing a "mammy" a subservient but happy and loyal African-American maid or cook.
