Описание: The Conference of the Birds is inspired by the celebrated Sufi tale, from which the Persian author Farid ud-Din Attar (1142-1220) created one of the greatest poetic works of all time. The story follows a group of birds who go off in search of the Simorgh, a mythic creature whom they hope to crown as their king. At the end of this mystical and existential epic, they discover that they themselves are the Simorgh: "The sun of my majesty is a mirror. He who looks in sees his own soul and his own body." From this allegory about the meeting of the soul and its true king, Jean-Claude Carriére wrote the text that serves as the basis for this show.

La conferenza degli uccelli è ispirata al celeberrimo racconto sufi dal quale l'autore persiano Farid ud-Din Attar (1142-1220) ha tratto una tra le più belle composizioni poetiche di tutti i tempi. Il racconto narra come gli uccelli partano alla ricerca di una creatura mitica, il Simurgh, per poterlo incoronare loro re. Al termine di un'epopea mistica ed esistenziale, scopriranno che essi stessi sono il Simurgh: "Il sole della mia maestà è uno specchio. Chi vi si guarda, vede la propria anima e il proprio corpo".
Da questa allegoria dell'incontro tra l'anima e il suo vero sovrano, Jean-Claude Carrière ha sviluppato l'opera teatrale che è servita da base per questo spettacolo.
