Persian Gulf Oil Crisis: US Navy May Escort Oil Tankers Amid Hormuz Strikes

Описание: The United States has offered a 30-day Russian oil waiver to India to ease pressure on global oil markets amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

Currently, over 200 ships are stuck inside the Persian Gulf, 150 ships are waiting outside the Strait of Hormuz, and 38 Indian vessels are caught in the region. The Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil passes, has become a critical flashpoint due to tanker attacks and strikes, causing a shipping gridlock.

Despite the crisis, Indian Government sources confirm that the country’s energy supply remains comfortable. Two Russian crude shipments carrying 1.4 million barrels are currently en route to India.

The White House has also stated that contingency plans are being prepared to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, including the potential escort of oil tankers by the US Navy.
