Did you know that the longest suspension bridge in the world is located in Kobe, Japan?
Akashi Kaikyō Bridge is Japan's longest bridge. It was constructed in 1988 and connects Kobe to Awaji Island. To be completely honest, when I looked at it, I was surprised that it boasts such a title; it didn't look much longer than the bridges I'm used to in New York. However, it is nearly four kilometers long!
My friends and I were able to walk beneath the bridge's platform by visiting the Maiko Marine Promenade. Just a warning, don't do this if you have a fear of heights (and loud sounds). Luckily, I just have a fear of loud sounds so I was able to survive...fear of heights wouldn't have been fun.
I hope you learned something new today! I didn't know about this bridge until that day...
