జాతీయ విద్యా విధానాన్ని తొలుత 1968లో, తర్వాత 1986లో రూపొందించారు. దానికి 1992లో పరిమితంగా సవరణలు చేశారు. ఒక రకంగా చెప్పాలంటే 1986 విధానమే 34 ఏళ్లుగా కొనసాగుతూ వచ్చింది. దాని స్థానంలో కొత్త విధానం రూపొందించడానికి మోదీ ప్రభుత్వం 2016 మే 27న టీఎస్ఆర్ సుబ్రహ్మణ్యం కమిటీ, 2019 మే 31న కె.కస్తూరిరంగన్ కమిటీని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. కస్తూరిరంగన్ కమిటీ నివేదికను ఇప్పుడు ఆమోదించింది.
