This is not the nocturne Szpilman played to the German officer in the movie "The Pianist", but a work Wladyslaw Szpilman had written while imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto. Jews were forbidden from performing Chopin, so Szpilman wrote a piece in the style of Chopin, which was performed weekly in the Ghetto's cafe.
Notable moments from the movie "The Pianist" include a mother who refuses to reveal the whereabouts of her baby but joins the crowds waiting to be transported to Treblinka. Szpilman somehow escapes.
This Mazurka in F minor by Szpilman written in 1942 portrays the grim reality brought upon the Jewish people during WWII.
Piano - Daniel Vnukowski
